Artist Statement

“Sometimes it’s the simplest things that trigger the imagination. For me, inspiration comes from many different observations that inevitably lead to an emotional reaction. Finding a forest glade filled with ferns and rain soaked leaves, or the way light simply filters through the forest, or how waves rhythmically wash up onto a beach are a few of the simple, yet compelling images that fuel my art. I love to observe how light falls on objects at different times of the day, often creating a feeling of contrast as the light is juxtaposed against the surrounding surfaces of nature. My inspiration mainly comes from seeking organic forms and then creating a tapestry of light and colour. It’s my hope that I can convey my love of our natural world through painting, so that others can share my joy and passion for the world that we need to care for ”
